The project brief was to replace the existing roof coverings while upgrading and enlarging the current roof windows to significantly increase the amount of natural light entering the property. Located in Poplar, E14, East London, the client required a modern and practical solution that would enhance both comfort and usability throughout the home.

To achieve the best results, the client opted for the installation of four large solar-powered MK08 roof windows from VELUX. These windows allow natural daylight to flood the interior while offering the convenience of remote-controlled opening and closing, providing ease of operation and improved ventilation.

For additional comfort and control, the client also selected solar-powered roller shutters. These offer enhanced security and the option of complete blackout, making them ideal during very sunny days, while maintaining energy efficiency and user convenience.

At the same time, the entire roof covering was replaced, with the client choosing fibre cement slates for their durability and clean, contemporary appearance. The selected product was Swisspearl Jutland Slates, manufactured by Swisspearl. Jutland is an attractive, flat, square-edged fibre cement slate produced to the highest European standards, combining long-term performance with the appearance of natural slate.

The completed works have transformed the property, delivering a brighter interior, improved functionality, and a high-quality roofing system built to last.
